Shaking it off with Taylor Swift

*Girl crush alert*

Last night Marysia and I went to the Taylor Swift 1989 World Tour concert at Suncorp Stadium and it was everything I pictured in my wildest dreams.

The stars in the sky looked pale in comparison to the sequins, sparkles and strobe lighting. And then Taylor hit the stage.

She was funny, warm, engaging and every inch the down-to-earth superstar she’s reported to be (and that’s not just my alcoholic slurpees talking!)

She busted out dorky dance moves and spoke with genuine warmth about the sucky parts of breakups and how we all get through them eventually. And the outfits … Oh em geeeeeeee (OMG!).

In between songs we were treated to video interviews with her #girlgang and her cats Meredith (for Meredith Grey) and Olivia (for Olivia Benson).

Flashing wristbands ensured we lit up the night sky through songs including A Love Story, Wildest Dreams and Bad Blood and her encore of Shake It Off had everyone up on their feet. I even saw some of the male security guards singing along!

A special shout out to the awesome Vance Joy who had been touring the world as Tay-Tay’s opening act … Phenomenal!

He’s back in town playing at Riverstage in April and is definitely worth seeing, not just for his big hits including Riptide, Georgia and Fire and the Flood, but he did a brilliant cover of Crowded House’s Fall at Your Feet which made me want to fall at his feet!

And when the concert was all over, one sentence popped up on the screen which seemed apt for me this week: “She lost him but she found herself and somehow that was everything.”

Please come back soon, Swifty.

Thanks Brooke for the heads up! I am taking my eldest (nearly 10YO) daughter Charlotte, next Friday night in Melbourne. It’s Charlotte’s first concert – we’ve gone and bought her a new outfit and will celebrate the end of her school year in style! We’ve been bopping to Tay Tay in the car for many hours. My first concert was Wham when I was 13 and I remember how excited I was, so I can’t wait to have this fun mum/daughter experience with my lovely girl. xxx

That’s so exciting, Georgia – the perfect end of year celebration if you ask me! If you plan to get any merchandise, get there early as the lines were massive. My first concert was Kylie when I was 8 and I loved it. Taylor definitely won’t disappoint. Have the best time! xx
