My styling session for Suited to Success

A few months ago, the team at Suited to Success asked me if I’d volunteer my services to style six models for their Bubbles & Beauties fundraiser at Brisbane’s City Hall.

As you can imagine, I was chuffed to be asked and although I have no experience styling anyway other than myself, I jumped at the chance, because why the hell not?

Suited to Success offers a number of services aimed at helping women find work and keep it; these include mentoring, interview preparation, personal outfitting, work experience and a range of transition to work and staying employed programs.

The majority of their clients, who are diverse in terms of age, education, work experience and cultural background, possess the skills required to find employment, but lack confidence in their skills and appearance.

“Imagine if I took all of your clothes and everything in your bathroom away and then told you to go to a job interview. Imagine how you’d feel, I’m guessing it wouldn’t be very confident,” Suited to Success General Manager Nicole Hard said.

“The outfit is just the external first step but it helps our clients see themselves in a different light.”

In preparation for my spin at styling, I dropped into Suited to Success’ Fortitude Valley headquarters ahead of the event to choose my outfits from the donated clothes and accessories that would be available for sale on the night.

Then it all came together at City Hall with fellow fashion bloggers Emily from Corporate Catwalker, Bec Nolan from I Love That Skirt, Stacey from Fashion Weekly and Stacey McGregor also involved.

Here are the outfits I put together and I’ve included the prices each outfit was sold for, so you know why you MUST attend next year’s event!
