Here comes the sun

They say it’s always darkest before the dawn, and for the past few weeks, I’ve been waiting for the sun to rise. Both figuratively and literally.

Early last Sunday morning, I decided it was time to make my own sunshine. So, with the sky still as black as coal, I jumped into the car armed with a couple of cameras and headed south.

It was my mission to find the best place to watch the sunrise on the Gold Coast and when I turned up at the Spit and as I walked towards the Southport jetty, the sun was just breaking the horizon.

As I sat on the sand, I let the warmth wash over me and it seemed as though things were not quite so bad.

Finally, here comes the sun.

“There is a sunrise and a sunset every day and you can choose to be there for it. You can put yourself in the way of beauty.” —Cheryl Strayed, Wild

These photos were shot on a Canon 550D DSLR, GoPro Hero 4 and iPhone6.

Stunning photos. I love sunrise and sunset pictures. So much so, that the header of my website is one that I took from my terrace as the sun rose over the mountains in the distance.
